The AIM WA/Lifeline WA Mental Wealth Series provides practical skills and knowledge for your frontline supervisors to respond appropriately to a staff member who is suffering a mental illness – in the best interests of both the employee and the organisation.
Session 1 – Responding to Mental Illness in the Workplace
Many supervisors are very adept at checking in with their staff, however, most are less skilled at responding appropriately when one of their staff says they are not coping. This session examines a range of strategies the supervisor could implement to support the individual and maintain a focus on organisational performance.
Session 2 – Mental Illness – The Law and WHS Risk
The law around dealing with illness and injury in the workplace are at times very precise and at other times very vague. This session explores what should be done to protect the interests of both the individual and the organisation.
Session 3 – Designing and Implementing a Return to Work Plan
How do you best return someone to work after a period of mental illness is the key question covered in this session. The process requires careful planning, sensitivity and open communication across everyone in the team.
