Mario DOrazio FAIM
Mario D'Orazio FAIM Director and Chair

Mario’s family migrated to Australia to make a new life after war had ravaged Italy. Although English was his second language, he excelled at school, and went on to graduate from UWA, starting his working life as a teacher on the edge of the Western Desert in the north eastern goldfields of WA.

He moved into journalism, specialising in politics, and rose to become Managing Director of Channel 7 Perth. After 40 years in media, Mario is a widely respected non-executive director of many organisations, spanning the arts, education and government.

His inspirational migrant success story is due in no small part to the opportunities which flowed from WA’s excellent education system.
