As part of its ongoing emphasis in showcasing defense companies in Western Australia, on 3 May AIDN-WA partnered with the Australian Institute of Management WA (AIM WA) to conduct an exclusive tour of Civmec's impressive Henderson facility.

The attendees, invited by both AIDN-WA and AIM WA, included business managers and representatives from government and various groups with interests in WA’s burgeoning defense sector.

Commenting on the tour program, Mike Deeks, General Manager – Defense at Civmec said, “Civmec was pleased to host a recent visit by AIM WA members and guests organised through AIDN-WA. Visitors were briefed on the achievements of the company to date and its aspirations for growth in the Defense market and were given a tour of the facilities prior to a networking lunch. Civmec is well poised to secure significant work in the upcoming major ship and submarine construction projects and this chance to articulate the opportunities and challenges facing us to win this work was most welcome."

Andrea Walters, Director Personal Membership, Advocacy and Information Services with AIM WA affirmed the tour's usefulness to its members: “AIM WA is delighted to have partnered with AIDN-WA for the site visit to Civmec’s Henderson facility. General Manager of Defense, Mike Deeks, gave an interesting insight into Civmec and its growth over the last 5 years.”

She continued, “The visit was a fantastic opportunity to facilitate connections between members of AIM WA and AIDN-WA and to hear about some of the potential business opportunities within the defense sector. On behalf of AIM WA members, thank you to both Mike Deeks and Serge DeSilva, President of AIDN-WA, for their support of this event."

Conversely, President of AIDN-WA, Serge DeSilva-Ranasinghe, concluded: "AIDN-WA is enthused to have conducted another successful tour of Civmec, which is a prominent member company. Similarly, we are also pleased to have partnered with AIM WA to bring together a large gathering of senior Industry officials representing an array of private sector entities. As the State's Defense Sector peak body, AIDN-WA is keen to develop partnerships with organisations that have likeminded interests, and as such look forward to enhancing our relationship with AIM WA."
