The Board of the Australian Institute of Management (AIM WA) has elected Dr Alison Gaines as the organisation’s new President. The announcement was made at the AIM WA annual general meeting in Floreat last night.
Dr Gaines said she was both pleased and excited to be given the role.
“To be part of the long-standing AIM WA business tradition of exemplary leadership and management development is very important to me,” Dr Gaines said.
“I believe AIM WA has a very strong and exciting future. Current growth is focused not only on the local WA market, but also on bringing into Western Australia groups of either private sector or government managers from Asia and the Middle East, and giving them intense leadership and management development.”
Dr Gaines paid tribute to former AIM WA President Peter Mott who, along with the other Board members and CEO and Executive Director Professor Gary Martin, had done an extraordinary job in keeping the organisation at the forefront of business leadership in Western Australia.
Dr Gaines brings a wealth of experience in training and education institutions to the role - with 25 years of executive experience and three years on the AIM WA board.
She will also take on the role of Chair of the AIM WA+UWA Business School Executive Education advisory board, and she is currently General Manager Asia Pacific at boutique executive search and board consulting practice Gerard Daniels.
Dr Gaines will lead a Board consisting of Professor Gary Martin FAIM (Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director, AIM WA); Richard Godfrey FAIM (Chief Operating Officer, West Coast Eagles); Fiona Kalaf FAIM (Chief Executive Officer, Youth Focus); Mario D’Orazio FAIM (Managing Director, Channel 7 Perth), and Michael Gollschewski FAIM (Managing Director, Rio Tinto Iron Ore).
