Approved by the Board of Directors 4 May 2023
The Board and Executive Leadership Team of the Australian Institute of Management WA (AIM WA) have recently reaffirmed their support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
At a time when there is momentum towards elevating Indigenous voices across all parts of our society, the Institute recognises the important role it plays in supporting those same voices in the workplace.
Through our core purposes of facilitating high quality learning, recognising and celebrating excellence, and stimulating conversations about important workplace matters, AIM WA supports the aspirations and the recognition of our First Nations peoples. We play a role in ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers have equal access to professional development, to career pathways and to senior leadership roles in any organisation. We celebrate the success of individual Indigenous leaders, and of Indigenous owned organisations.
The Institute is also a conduit to the Makarrata: the coming together as described in the Uluru Statement. By stimulating conversations around this important agenda, by being open to a diversity of views from our members, clients and stakeholders, we increase shared understanding of differing perspectives. Not everyone will be starting from the same point, nor will they all come to the same conclusion, but an open, inclusive, respectful dialogue will open doors to a better future.
We invite you to join us on this journey of understanding and of recognition where we might all truly acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture as a gift to our country.
