Overview

This course is designed to improve and develop the management style and skills of individuals either recently promoted into a Manager role, or individual contributors earmarked for managerial responsibilities.

With a wide variety and volume of content covered over two days, it offers a unique opportunity for new managers or team leaders to enhance their leadership skills, learn how to efficiently manage a team and get the best out of themselves and others.

Additional to the core interpersonal skills, the course also covers managing performance, conflict, and change management. You'll leave with practical tools and strategies to implement in your workplace, which assists with achieving individual goals and the goals of your organisation.

  • The successful new manager - Stepping up from individual contributor to managing and leading others - what are the skills for getting the best out of yourself and others?

  • Communicating with influence - Master the art of assertive communication and positive influence and understand why gaining ‘buy-in’ is essential for achievement of goals and team cohesion.

  • Goal setting, prioritising and delivering results – Learn the skills of setting challenging yet achievable goals for your team in order to deliver results

  • Delegation - Being able to utilise this essential managerial skill will enable you to upskill others and free yourself up to work on tasks essential to the business.

  • Managing for high performance - Having the skills to effectively manage work outputs of your direct reports, allowing you to recognise and reward great performance, and work with those not meeting expectations in fundamental to being a successful manager.

  • Addressing underperformance in individuals - Enhance your skills in being able to address performance related issues where lifting performance through motivation, accountability and coaching is the underlying theme

  • Handling conflict - conflict happens at all levels and having strategies to deal with conflict is an essential skill of any successful manager.  This session will upskill you with multiple strategies and approaches to handle any conflict scenario

  • Motivating self and others - Great managers know how to get the best out of themselves and others.  Positive reinforcement and understanding what motivates yourself and others underpin engagement and productivity in successful work environments.
