Leading a project from start to finish asks a lot: scope, time, cost, people and risk, all at once. This qualification is for people who apply project management skills and knowledge across a range of industries. At this level, you lead and manage projects and are responsible for achieving project objectives. You draw on a sound theoretical knowledge base and a range of specialised, technical and management skills to initiate, plan, carry out and evaluate your own work and the work of others.
This qualification is offered via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) only; it does not include training and resources.
Pricing
The RPL fee covers assessment of your existing skills and knowledge. If gaps are identified, we will tell you about any extra costs before you enrol.
*The Project Manager price is the total assessment fee. You need to apply to enrol within 12 months of attending the 'The Project Manager' program.
Already leading projects from start to finish? This qualification caters to experienced project practitioners seeking formal recognition for the project management skills they apply every day.
It is designed for:
RPL suits current project managers and project team leaders who want their project management skills, experience and previous training recognised without repeating learning they have already done. It is likely to be right for you if you:
There are no formal entry, licensing or certification requirements for BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management. Before you enrol, an AIMWA assessor will review your experience, skills and access to evidence to confirm whether RPL suits you.

| At least two years of relevant experience | Existing industry skills and knowledge |
| Access to authentic and current workplace evidence | Suitable language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills |
| Verification and support from your employer and manager | Time to commit to the assessment requirements |
| Access to a computer and reliable internet | A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) |
Your RPL assessment has three parts. Together, they help your assessor confirm that you have the knowledge, practical capability and workplace evidence the qualification requires.
The example below shows how these three parts may work together for one assessment requirement.

Evidence Collection |

Describe each of the following phases of the project life cycle: Initiating, Planning, Execution and Closing. |
Using a real workplace example, describe how you developed a project schedule. Explain how you developed the work breakdown structure, estimated task durations, identified task sequencing and dependencies, and selected the project scheduling tools and techniques you used. |
Upload workplace evidence showing that you have developed project schedules for at least two different projects. Your evidence must include examples of the project management tools or scheduling methods you used to develop and manage the scheduleds. |
Working with confidential evidence. You can redact names, contact details and other identifying information, as long as the evidence still shows your work. Make sure you have permission to share workplace documents. If confidentiality rules stop you providing evidence, talk to us before you enrol so we can consider alternatives.
You complete your assessment online through our learner portal, at your own pace and around your work. Enrolments are rolling, so you can start once your enrolment is confirmed and you have portal access. Self-paced still takes discipline. Setting aside regular time will help you finish within your enrolment period.
Your assessor reviews your evidence and gives feedback or asks for more information as needed. You can submit evidence up to three times for each unit, and this is included in your assessment fee.
AIMWA (RTO Code 0058) offers this qualification directly. We do not use third parties for recruitment, delivery or assessment.
You have 12 months to complete your assessment. As a guide, most participants spend several hours over one to three weeks per unit gathering evidence and answering knowledge questions. It can be quicker if your evidence is already organised, and slower if you need documents from employers or third parties.
In the event you are unable to complete the requirements within the 12 months, you may have the option to extend or re-enrol (conditions apply - see our RTO Schedule of Fees and Charges).
