Director, Banksia Capital
Mark is a Director of Banksia Capital and has over 25 years of business experience with the majority spent in private equity. Prior to founding Banksia Capital, he was a partner at Navis Capital and Director at Foundation Capital, with responsibility for their later stage fund.
In previous roles, Mark worked at BancBoston Capital in Europe and in the Asia Pacific as Managing Director. He also worked in the Audit and Corporate Finance divisions at Price Waterhouse in both the UK and Russia.

Dee Roche
Dee is a Senior Management Consultant who has been facilitating, public speaking, teaching and working with groups for over 25 years within private, public and community based organisations. Her experience spans the areas of strategic leadership and management development, organisational change and transformation, governance and building high performance teams that focus on values.
Dee currently lectures at the UWA Business School on the MBA Program, focusing on ‘Strategic Change and Transformation’ and is the 2013 and 2022 Winner and 2014, 2015 & 2016 Nominee of the UWA Excellence in Teaching Award; 2014 Winner UWA Excellence in Teaching and Research Awards (Program Award); and 2014 Nominee for the Western Australian Women’s Hall of Fame.
Professor Allan Trench
Allan is a former strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company, the author of 10 books and over 50 peer-reviewed journal publications.
He has over 25 years of combined industry and academic experience and has served as a director of a number of emerging ASX-listed resources companies since 2003. Allan has held academic positions in geophysics at Oxford University and Mineral Economics at Curtin University and is currently an MBA Director and Professor in the Practice of Management at UWA Business School.
Dr Shane Lavagna-Slater
Shane is a financial services professional across several countries. His career is a blend of academia and financial services experience, having worked in large banks, financial services providers and Universities across Africa and Australia.
Within financial services, Shane has held senior positions responsible for driving growth through new product and channel development. Similarly, in the academic realm, he has taken on roles ranging from educator and department head to learning experience manager. Currently, Shane acts as a sessional academic and facilitator within The University of Western Australia MBA program teaching Strategic Corporate Finance.
Dr Ryan Behdad
Ryan is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in technical and leadership roles across various industries, including energy, financial services, consultancy, and academia. His expertise lies in AI and data analytics, where he has successfully built and developed high-performing teams and has been hands-on in creating innovative and effective models and solutions.
With a PhD in machine learning, Ryan has a deep understanding of how to harness data to drive impactful business decisions. Currently, he serves as the Head of Data Science and Analytics at Cash Converters, where his leadership and expertise have been essential in delivering diverse products.
