RPL enables you to get recognised for your experience! Progress your career by getting a qualification through demonstrating your existing knowledge and skills. No study or exams required. Simply provide evidence of your competence through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment pathway to complete a qualification using your current work experience. You can enrol if you are currently employed in a role relevant to the qualification and have at least two years' experience.

This depends on your current level of experience and the requirements of the qualification. On average you should expect your journey to span six months to two years.

Your investment for any qualification will vary according to the qualification you select, as fees are calculated per unit. You will be invoiced for fees at enrolment.

Full fees will be invoiced where an employer is paying and an enrolment fee of $1,500 will be invoiced to individuals paying their own fees with the remainder invoiced three months after commencement.

Yes, they do. If your organisation is an AIM WA Corporate Member you will receive reduced fees. View the benefits and savings of Corporate Membership.

If you are completing a qualification we will waive the membership fee for the first year of your membership. Professional Membership enables you to access benefits and learning resources exclusively for AIM WA members.

If you already hold units of competency with another training organisation you may be able to use these towards another qualification in a process called Credit Transfer (CT). You will need to provide a copy of your Statement of Attainment, Record of Results or access to view your transcript through the USI Portal. Fees may apply.

The electives offered with all our qualifications are based on our experience and feedback from industry. We also appreciate that our electives will not meet everyone’s needs. Please contact us on 08 9383 8080 to discuss alternative packaging options.

Our training courses will provide you with valuable knowledge and skills that you will be able to apply in the workplace. You will gain a better understanding of the key concepts, theories and tools to ensure your evidence is sufficient, valid and reliable. However, training courses do not contribute towards the completion of the assessment requirements for qualifications.

Our qualifications are conveniently delivered online, providing the flexibility for you to complete them at your own pace. There's no need for class attendance or extensive online coursework; instead, the focus is on your existing skills and expertise.

To ensure a successful learning experience, having access to current workplace evidence is crucial and you must already be doing the required tasks, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. This approach allows you to streamline the qualification process and enhance your skills efficiently.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Understanding RPL

Progress your career by getting a qualification through demonstrating your existing knowledge and skills. There is no study or exams required.

Simply provide evidence of your competence through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment pathway to complete a qualification using your current work experience. Our qualifications are convenient as they are completed online, in your own time and at your own pace. You could finish in as little as six months (or less) if all evidence is readily available.

You can enrol if you are currently employed in a role relevant to the qualification and have at least two years' experience.

If you are currently working, have existing skills and knowledge on the chosen qualification and have access to workplace evidence, then you are qualified to enrol through the RPL assessment pathway. Click here to view our list of qualifications available.

We currently offer three levels as a part of our RPL process that are suited to various types of roles:

Certificate IV
Participants at this level are in operational roles that require the application of technical skills and knowledge. They work as part of a team and have limited accountability for achieving outcomes.

Diploma
Participants at this level are in management roles that require the skills to analyse, problem solve and instruct others. They work as team/project leaders and are accountable for achieving outcomes.

Advanced Diploma
Participants at this level are in strategic roles that require the ability to provide specialist advice, functions and analysis. They have defined responsibility and accountability for developing outcomes and transmitting that information to others.

An RPL qualification recognises the workplace as a valuable learning experience and provides an opportunity for working professionals to be acknowledged for the job skills they already possess. It opens doors for people who haven't had the opportunity to study, plus improves career options and succession planning.

  • Getting recognised for your achievements is a great way to boost morale
  • Improve your career advancement opportunities
  • Offers a pathway to further studies and opens up career options.

During the completion of your qualification, you can expect a comprehensive orientation session to familiarise yourself with the structure and requirements. Throughout the process, assessment support sessions will be provided, including access to assessor support through the online portal.

To further aid in the process, an assessment example document will be provided, offering a practical reference for participants. Additionally, the RTO Team is available for support during business hours, ensuring a reliable and responsive support system for any queries or concerns that may arise.

If you're looking to upskill or reskill through an RPL qualification, it's crucial to note that RPL relies on demonstrating existing workplace competence. Gathering evidence can be challenging if you're not currently performing the required tasks. If this is the case, you may want to explore alternative training options and our Assessment Team is available at 08 9383 8080 to guide you.

During the RPL process, you will need to complete the following assessment structure:

Knowledge Questions: Answering theory-based queries involves sharing your understanding of your role.

Process Tasks: Outline the step-by-step actions you take to accomplish a task or reach a goal in your role.

Evidence Collection: Upload current workplace documents to demonstrate how you gather and present evidence of your skills and achievements.
